The Legend of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks

Everyone knows that the Elks were founded in 1868 in New York City. What people don’t know is: why it was truly started. Some think it was just because a member of a minstrel show had contracted a disease and could not afford treatment.

While it is true that the minstrel did die, and he could not afford treatment, the true cause of the disease, that ravaged his body mercilessly, was hidden from the public as no one should find out the true origin or its purpose.

The Elks were established to shield the everyday world from this creature, and they banished it through a portal. Their efforts were so successful that, over a century passed, and the creature was forgotten.

But then Lodge number 666 was established and the portal that was once closed, was reopened …
