Join us for a stroll through historic Mound Cemetery. Along the way you will share in the stories of many individuals who have impacted the history of Racine and are buried over some 52 acres of land. This guided tour will feature local actors dressed in character, who will portray some of the cemetery’s residents and tell their stories. Characters will be stationed near their grave-sites and will act out scenes of their personal history. Some of the notable historical figures include business leaders who have put Racine on the world map, heroes from the Civil War and World Wars I and II, former mayors and political figures, and the beginning of the cemetery some 2000 years ago when Native Americans buried their dead within 14 mounds on or near the site.
Proceeds for the walk will go to the Volunteer Center of Racine County with a portion to be used by Mound Cemetery.
