Wow, I'm not sure how I managed to go through the entire haunt season without updating! I guess it's been a pretty busy month! I missed out on Haunts this past weekend as I was visiting family up north and could not find any haunts nearby :( I am hoping to get out this weekend and try some out. I always go to Dewayne Asylum and I haven't made it yet and I want to check out Splatter Haus's new location too, but with Halloween three days away and my little sister having a Halloween party on the 1st I'm...

It's Halloween: Act like a kid again Maybe a silly dress-up holiday is just what we need
One of my favorite Halloween cartoons, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will air on ABC Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. CST. Afterwards, ABC will also be showing a 'bonus' peanuts cartoon in which Linus runs for class president. So set your DVR and carve some pumpkins while watching this holiday classic."You didn't tell me you were going to kill it!"
On Friday, October 10th Andy, Dan, Sarah and I headed north and went to the following haunts:Dominion of TerrorThe House of BathoryNightmare on MainSplatter HausOur first stop was the Sheboygan Jaycees Dominion of Terror. This was our second year visiting and we looked forward to seeing what was new. Everything! The sets this year were amazing! My favorites included the city scenes, butcher shop and of course movie theater. Kudos to the butcher! The clown near the end was super creepy and still haunts me. The last scene seemed to lack a bit as we were expecting something more to happen, but overall, you could see...
There is something creepy going on in Wisconsin and you don't want to miss it. I've been to seven events so far and I can tell you each one is worth whatever it takes to get there. In the order visited:Wisconsin FeargroundsThis is really three events in one location. If you've got the cash, see all three -- the progression from one to the next adds to the effect. If the economy's got a hold on your wallet and you have to pick one, check out Morgan Manor or Morgana's Torment if you like to be spooked or Freaky's Funhouse if...
I've been meaning to write a follow-up to the haunts Andy, Dan and I have traveled to so far this season and will do my best now. My memory has never been that great, so I apologize if I don’t mention any important pieces. Our first outing consisted of Johnny's wife, Johnny, his friend, Sarah, Andy, me and Dan.On Friday, October 3rd we visited:Wisconsin FeargroundsMonster MayhemMars Haunted HouseThe first stop was the Wisconsin Feargrounds. This haunt grew again this year and now consists of three haunts; Morgan Manor, Morgana’s Torment and Freaky’s Funhouse. We were one of the first groups to...

If you are using IE7, you may have noticed the text in reviews can disappear. I put in a workaround for that rendering bug today. It's the same workaround I put in for IE6 yesterday.Hopefully everyone can read the reviews now. Let me know if anything else looks weird. Thanks to all of you that reported the bug.
Our submit event form is up. Click here to submit reviews for Wisconsin events you've attended this year! Please note: We're still working on bits and pieces with the reviews, so keep an eye out for changes and additions.
Andy, Dan and I will be checking out haunts again this Friday. We'll also be dragging Johnny along again if he's not stuck working on Saturday morning. This week we'll be visiting some of the haunts along I-43 including the Sheboygan Jaycees: Dominion of Terror, The House of Bathory, Splatter Haus and Nightmare on Main. Last year was the first year I had been to the Dominion of Terror. They did a great job, especially during the heat we had that first weekend. Splatter Haus also did a great job as always and I can't wait to see what they've...
Gilly's Haunted House is looking for someone who can carve 25 pumpkins for a display outside of their haunt. Donations will be collected and the pumpkins will be raffled off. Sorry about the intermittent errors throughout the day. With October here, the changes have become more noticeable. The leaves turn colors, peoples moods change, the temperature changes, and all the buildings that sit dormant 11 months out of the year begin emitting sounds of horror and thrills as the occupants wake up for another season of scares. This is defineitely a great time of year. Today after work I am going to harvest gourds and pumpkins, that have been changing since spring when they were planted. It's always fun to see what the garden is hiding amongst all the leaves and vines. There are always a few surprises...
We made a whole bunch of updates today:Fixed the calendar on event details pagesAdded weather links to event detailsAdded a printable event listing view with lots of handy infoFixed the accounts to work with the messageboard logins againAdded a submit review form...and moreThe review form will be undergoing some more changes but start submitting your reviews anyway. We will be at the Wisconsin Feargrounds located at the Waukesha Expo Center tonight. Come on out and say "Hi."This is a great time of the season to see this haunt because of the huge crowds they draw later in October once the word gets out. Dress warmly though, tonight is supposed to be chilly.
Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Lattes, muffins and donuts are now available along with their festive Fall Decorated Donuts. Unfortunately there aren't any Dunkin Donuts near me anymore, but I'm sure they're pretty tasty! Yes, I love pumpkin flavored food - can you tell?
It's that time again! Time for jack-o-lantern and pumpkin spice cake doughnuts at Krispy Kreme. Yum! The jack-o-lantern doughnuts will be available through the end of October and the pumpkin spice cake will be available through the end of November.Check out their web site to see their Halloween commercial!
Kevin Hash is an inspiring young lad at 13 years of age. He went before the Appleton common council and requested that trick-or-treat be held until 8pm instead of the original 7pm to accommodate changes in family lifestyles and daylight savings time. I hope more communities take this into account as well and extend their trick-or-treat times until 8pm when holding Halloween on a weekday. Most households now have both parents working and by the time they get home, feed the kids, get their costumes/make-up on, trick-or-treat is almost over. Let kids have this opportunity to be kids, get dressed...

Stop out this Saturday, September 27 and Saturday, October 18 to see Ned the Dead from Chiller Theater. He will be shooting his television show from the front of the DeWane Asylum haunted house in Green Bay. A few lucky haunt goers will be able to take part and be on TV with Ned! Thanks to Sean from the DeWane Asylum for the information.

I'm posting this evening with a little sad news from the north. One of my favorite haunts of the past few years, Transylmazeia at the Marion Amazement Park in Marion WI, is closed. A check of the parks website says the park is closed and the business is for sale. They were a very unique haunt, using an actual wooden maze and transforming it into a corridor of haunts. While they did not use it as a maze during haunt season, occasional wrong turns were to be expected. This was the first haunt I ever attended that allowed touching, and it...
As everyone knows, things online can differ greatly from the real world. For example on here I can say that I'm 6'5" 250 lbs, but in reality I'm 6'1" 270 lbs. Quite a difference huh? At the same time, in pretty rare instances people and things are the same in both worlds. Why do I bring this up? On Sturday I had the opportunity for the first time to meet the people behind this site, Jenny and Andy. Right away I realized they are exactly like they are on here. I don't want to steal the points that Andy made in...

Last night I got to meet a few of the review crew members and it turns out they are as extraordinary in real life as they are online.I don't know much about most of the Review Crew members other than what can be gleaned from the applications and reviews they write but if pud27, majorXpsycho, dirkadirka, and those I've met in the past are any indication, than Wisconsin is one lucky state to have such talented and passionate individuals. We spend countless hours pouring over every application and weighing different factors when selecting the review crew members. It's hard because we...
I'll admit it. I don't go to the mall very often. I was never really into the whole mall thing. Maybe it's cause I'd end up buying everything I wanted and would be in massive credit card debt (or because everything is too pricey for my cheap taste).Well anyway, I got an email from Bath & Body Works which announced their new Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin scent. YUM! (I gotta get me some of that!). Well there was also a link to their new Halloween shop. I never thought Bath & Body Works would have Halloween items! So now of course, that...

Before I go into my first post, I just want to introduce myself. My name is Adam, but I go by pud27 on the message boards and reviews. I'm a member of the Review Crew-have been since the beginning. I'm from the big town of Denmark, which is just south of Green Bay on I-43. I am 22 and engaged to my high school sweetheart who I've been dating for 5 1/4 years. Hey all of you Halloween "freaks!" I, just like Jenny, was doing some Halloween TV snooping, and found that ABC will be hosting the annual 13 Nights of Halloween! One word - AWESOME! I love everything about Halloween, especially the TV shows! I really enjoy emersing myself in the Halloween spirit and nothing beats watching Halloween themed shows on a cold and dreary October eve - hot cocoa and carving pumpkins, with a good Halloween show on in the background - what's better than that?Oh yea, back to ABC Family - for those of you with HD - the channel is...
I love watching the many horror movies on AMC as well as TCM (see other post), so after I saw the TCM schedule I checked out the AMC site for their Monsterfest schedule. Their general TV listing schedule doesn't go to far into October yet, so I did a search. I came across news that they changed the name from MONSTERFEST to FEARFEST and shortened the number of days it's on. Fearfest will run from Friday, October 24 through Halloween night. Personally, I prefer the Monsterfest name and more days of horror movies. Why change it?Anyways, here's the schedule I...

The review crew application had an annoying limitation of 200 characters for any response (and you got an unhelpful "500 Server Error" if you went over that limit). This is the same bug we had last year that got a temporary fix then. Now I put the fix back in place and made it permanent this time. The application should be able to handle as much as you wish to type now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Some people have been encountering errors when filling out the Review Crew application. If you encounter any errors, please send me an email with what error you recieved and I will send you a Word document application to fill out instead.
I love coffee. Especially pumpkin flavored coffee. So, I was very happy this morning when I checked my email and saw that I had received a coupon from Caribou Coffee announcing that I could get $1.00 off... Any Size New Fall Beverage including our Pumpkin Cooler and Wild Pumpkin. Pumpkin Cooler - A creamy blend of pumpkin, spice and coffee makes for a surprisingly refreshing cooler. Wild Pumpkin - A masterful mix of pumpkin, spice, white chocolate, espresso and cream that's like pumpkin pie right out of the oven.YUM!!! I cannot wait to go to Caribou today to try these...

There may be some of you wondering where our link directory went. Well, with the new site and sections, we had to change many of the URL's you may have bookmarked and linked to. We apologize for the inconvience, but fear not! The link directory is still up and running. You can now find it at: HauntedWisconsin.com/information/links/ If there are any new links you'd like us to add to the directory, send us the name, description, URL and category and we'll get them added.
Those of you who have visited HauntedWisconsin.com in the past have probably noticed that our new event directory looks a bit different. In addition to the new look, the event information pages and search options have also been "upgraded". Good news for those of us who shopped at the Bartz's in Brookfield. While at the Westbrook Shopping Center (E. Mooreland & Springdale Rd.) Andy and I spotted what looked like the Bartz's logo. We checked it out and saw signs in their windows saying they would be opening soon. They'll be in the old (Joanne?) fabrics store where Halloween Express was located e a couple years ago. We peaked in the window and saw some Halloween decorations set up.To help build our excitment for the upcoming season, we had a tradition of going to the Bartz's in Brookfield a couple weeks after...

Hey Boos and Ghouls! Wifey and I are expecting our newest edition to the family and the youngest member of the Review Crew to date any day now! This is an exciting time for the both of us, especially me! What does this have to do with Halloween, you might ask? Well, on one of our many "prep trips" to Babies R Us, I spied something orange with my pirate eye - Halloween merchandise!I will get to see Halloween through the eyes of a child - and not just MINE this time!Big Daddy

Unfortunately, Bartz's closed their Brookfield location this year, so anyone who used to frequent that store (like Andy & I) will now have to travel to Greenfield, Menomonee Falls or Wauwatosa... or just find another party/Halloween store to check out. Since the Brookfield location always seemed to have some stuff out right after the 4th of July, I did some calling to find out when their Halloween merchandise will be out. It sounds like it will be at least a couple of more weeks till some items are out. However, costumes are always in stock. :P
We hope you like some of the new features and looks of the new site! PLEASE be sure to give us feedback on what you do and don't like. Some of the changes include Quick Links and Section Links. The Quick Links are the most popular pages and are listed on every page for quick and easy access. The Section Links are listed below the Quick Links and change depending on what section your're in. This also gives quick and easy access to pages in each section. We have also added section home pages. When you click on a section...
OOooooooooooooooooooo!!! Look at Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I have a bllllaaaaaawwwwwwwggggg! I'm special. PUMPKINS!!!!!!
Every year, I wait upon baited breathe, for the arrival of the first Halloween merchandise of the season! And every year, to my surprise, it has arrived earlier and earlier. Last year, I began checking for Halloween stuff around the end of July. Fortunately, I was able to find items that began trickling in at the local Wally World, Targea, and Michaels. This year, I had a feeling; call it intuition or a 666 sense. . . But on June 28, I stopped off at the Michael's on hwy 100 and National Avenue . . . low and behold, HALLOWEEN...
According to the Brown Deer and Brookfield Michaels stores, Halloween merchandise should begin arriving THIS THURSDAY (July 3rd)! Johnny has already seen some Halloween goodies at the Michaels in West Allis!! Check out his blog for more updates.
