Review Crew FAQ

Last Updated: 8/09/2011

Interested in being part of the Review Crew or just curious? Read the frequently asked questions below for more information.

The 2011 application is now available!

Q. What is the Review Crew (RC)?

A. The Review Crew is a select group of haunted attraction enthusiasts who travel to a minimum of four (4) assigned haunts every Halloween season and give top notch reviews.

Please note: This is not a group that reviews paranormal or "real" haunted houses.

Q. What do you look for?

A. We select members who have good writing skills, are willing to travel over one hour one-way, are at least 17 years old, and have not been affiliated with a haunt in the past 18 months.

Q. Do RC members get paid to go to haunts and review them?

A. No. None of our Review Crew members get paid to visit haunts or provide reviews.

Q. Is there a fee to join?

A. No, there is no fee to be part of the Review Crew.

Q. How many RC members are there?

A. We like to have 16 Review Crew members.

Q. Are haunts assigned to each RC member?

A. Yes, each RC member is assigned a minimum of four (4) haunts to review, from a list of participating haunts. RC members are allowed to review other RC Haunts, but must finish their assigned reviews. RC members who do not review all of their assigned haunts will not be able to join the following year.

Q. Do RC members get anything for giving reviews?

A. RC members get free admission for themselves and one guest to all haunts participating in the Review Crew program. Some haunts have also been known to give behind the scenes tours.

Q. Do RC members have to wait in line?

A. Yes and No. Each haunt chooses whether or not to allow RC members VIP access (line jumping). We prefer our RC members get and provide information on the whole haunt experience; from line entertainment (or lack thereof), all the way to getting (chased) back to the car.

Q. How far do RC members have to travel?

A. All haunts to be reviewed are located in Wisconsin; however travel times of one hour or more one way are not uncommon. We do our best to assign haunts which are close to members and/or are on their preferred list, but cannot guarantee which haunts you'll be assigned or where they'll be located.

Q. Do RC members have to travel together?

A. No. All RC members may travel to their assigned haunts on their own or connect with other members and travel to haunts in a group.

Q. Is there a deadline to finish reviews?

A. Yes. All reviews for haunts must be completed by the Wednesday following the visit. All final visits/reviews must be completed prior to the last weekend in October.

Q. How can I be part of the RC?

A. On a yearly basis we review our list of haunts & members and decide if we need additional members. Applications are usually around the end of July, so be sure to check the site on a regular basis.
